What is Uglow
Mark 4:1-8, "Again Jesus began to teach by the lake. The crowd that gathered around him was so large that he got into a boat and sat in it out on the lake, while all the people were along the shore at the water's edge. He taught them many things by parables, and in his teaching said: 'Listen! A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants, so that they did not bear grain. Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up, grew and produced a crop, multiplying thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times.'"
Our goal is to reach out and plant a seed in every area of a person's life. For Spark, it is to share the gospel to someone who maybe has never heard of Jesus Christ before. For Flame, it is to instill a fire within their hearts to want to know Christ more after having made the ultimate, life-giving decision. For Beacon, it is to instruct them to partake in what Christ destines in the life of all Christians who have made the decision to take their relationship with Him to a whole new level. This is ministry, serving others instead of yourself.
The Bible expresses a very important point in the following scripture:
Mark 4:33, "With many similar parables Jesus spoke the word to them, as much as they could understand. He did not say anything to them without using a parable. But when he was alone with his own disciples, he explained everything."
In the end, Uglow is renewing a never-ending cycle (see the above illustration) to furthur what Jesus Christ commanded in the following passage:
Matthew 28:16-20, "Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
